Reflection Paragraph on Findings

In my research I have learned that parent and students are getting in trouble across america for trying to fight back against the dress code rules.  Also I looked up all my schools dress codes violations on the horry county school districts page and for more detailed information I looked on my schools web page.  The only way you can wear hats at horry county schools is if you have a health condition.

Finding Paragraph 3

Shirts that have alcohol or drug references are also in the student handbook as dress code violations.  This rule is set also to keep the school with a clean and neat repuation.  However, I do not see any other reason for this rule to be put into action.  After all my research this shows to not affect students grades; wearing shirts that have these references.

Finding Paragraph 2

Pajamas however, can be somewhat of a big deal.  When you wear comfortable clothes like pajamas to school they can make you sleepy and its way easier to relax in them rather than other clothing items like jeans and shorts.  The main part of the pajamas is of course, the bedroom slippers.  These would not cause a distraction of education and wouldn't cause you to become sleepy. After the research I've completed about pajamas and bedroom slippers I have came to the conclusion niether are a big distraction in anyones education.

Finding Paragraph 1

Holes in jeans do not affect your educaation or grades.  However, it can affect the way your school looks.   Many schools want you to look neat and clean because they want the school the same way and to keep it having a good and clean reputation.

Quote Paraphrase and Citation #5

That notion is at the heart of similar disputes across the country. As dress codes and  mandatory school uniform policies become more commonplace, students and parents are ending up in courtrooms and jailhouses in their determination to fight back.
This text tells about how these ploicies have become more common now. Also saying that parents and students are trying to fight back against this and that its got to be such a big controversy that they are ending up in trouble of it.

Students at a high school in Pennsylvania are up in arms over a new dress code rule saying that clothing with holes or tears isn't proper attire for school.
This relates to my topic by showing that most schools are cutting out students from wearing jeans that have holes in them. They are also saying it isnt proper for school.

"All pants, shorts, and skirts must be zipped, and buttoned. Garments worn with the buttocks or undergarments visible are not acceptable. Pants should not have any holes or tears in them higher than 2 inches above the knee."
This is telling me that all pants and skirts that contains buttons and zippers have to be buttoned and zipped while in the building and on campus. Also you shouldn't have holes in your jeans that are two inches above your knees.

What I Want To Know About My Topic

Should the dress code at Green Sea Floyds be reconsidered? Are holes in jeans really a distraction in school? Why are pajama or lounging wear not allowed to be worn to school? Why are shirts that have alcohol or drug references not allowed on clothing? Why are students not allowed to wear bedroom shoes?

I Already Know About My Topic

I already know that GSFH ia trying to stop students from wearing holes in their jeans two inches above the knee. However they also keep many other dress code rules in store like you cant wear shirts with references to alcohol and drugs and you cant wear pajama pants or lounging wear. You will get wrote up and sent home if someone does not bring you another pair of pants or other clothing to change into. Also I was taught to express myself by teachers in the past but its kind of hard when the rules are holding you back from it.

The Story Behind My Topic

The dress code at Green Sea Floyds should be changed. After a while of thinking about it ive came to the conclusion that this issue is a lot bigger than what it seems. Everytime I buy jeans I always buy them with holes in them because they are like I like to wear. Sometimes its hard to find ones that dont have holes in them because its a big style. The principal and the administration should change the rule about this and other dress code violations. In my opinion holes in the jeans dosent affect whether you do good in school or not.
